An Attempt to Construct Context Specific Protein-protein Interaction Network of Yeast

In network biology applications, most of the time it is impossible to handle whole protein-protein interaction map of organisms at once. There are various approaches for network reduction for computational efficiency to overcome this obstacle. These contextualizational approaches uses various types of biological information. In this study we investigated yeast protein-protein interaction map and reduced it to a pathway specific interaction map. We removed clique like structures. Databases providing protein ternary structures were utilized for identification of possible clique interactions. Topological features of the resulting context specific network and biological signifacance of highly central nodes were investigated together with the original network, comparatively. The results indicated that the approach can be fruitful in pathway related studies on genome scale protein-protein interaction maps.
