While the theoretical approach to digital game was partly becoming apparent in a discussion focusing on if games must be analysed with the terms and methods of narratolgy or ludology; another discussion came up with a focus on if games were art or not. This research brings close together these two distinct branchs of discussion shaping dijital game literature. Bill Viola’s experimental artgame The Night Journey is analysed as a lyric dramaturgical work of art from a narratological perspective. The Night Jouney isn’t narrative, but it is still representaional and functions as an open work independent from any story-structure. In the scope of this research, are founded the motives forming the lyrical dramaturgy of poem-game over The Night Journey; is discussed in game creative interactivity structure where directional dialetic is resolved. Accordingly, journey as a theme, game mechanics from which is designed reflexion as agency, blurred audio-visual environment and the written, visual and interactive use of artist’s sources are described as units forming lyrical style.
