Abstract

In recent years both in Turkey and in rest of the World, the integration of different disciplines in language learning widely come into prominence. The very common example of this is learning a language not only within its grammatical or vocabulary content but also learning the target language’s culture as a whole thing. Here the culture may mean just the way of life of the target language community at its simplest explanation or more deeply target language's common history, economy, geography, literature etc. In Korean language as a foreign language teaching, the mainstream trend is firstly integrating cultural elements into language education courses. But that is not at all with the increase of human mobilization and access to the bundle of resources. In this article, at the concept of integration of different disciplines, through Content and Language Integration Learning (CLIL) approach, Korean history and Korean language teaching integration will be analyzed. This will be helpful to the Korean studies at all along with the recent debates in Ankara University, Korean Language and Literature Department. The department is on the very edge of introducing preparatory class and a revision of its curriculum with the medium of the instruction. This paper is aimed to analyze CLIL as potential approaches in the syllabus setting specifically the integration of Korean history and Korean language under Korean history through Korean language.
