1.Introduction: Physicalactivity (PA) is highl yimportant for maintenance of cardiovascular

and metabolichealth. It also has a primary role in prevention of recurrent stroke and

improving cardiovascular health in strokesurvivors. However, participation in PA decreases

following stroke due to multiplefactors.

2.Aims:Theaim of thestudy is to investigate the effect of perceivedrecovery on PA

3.Methods:For the purposes of thestudy, 30 patients with mild stroke (66,77±7,98 meanage,

76,7% male) and 34 healthycontrols (65,94±10,12 mean age,67,6% male)areincluded in

thestudy. Inclusioncriteriasare a)having a mildstrokeforthefirst time, b) being at orover 50

years of age, c) taking a place in category 3 oraboveaccordingto Functional Ambulation

Categories (FAC). Theperceivedrecovery of patients is measuredusing Stroke Impact Scale

3,0 (SIS-3). Rapid Assessment of Physical Activity (RAPA) is used to determine patient’s PA

4.Results:Themeanduration since stroke was 9,36±11,08 months. 36,7% of patients were

impaired on therightsideand 93,3% of them had ischemicstroke. Inthestatisticalanalyses,

there was a significant difference between groups in theaerobicpart of RAPA (p=0,01)

however, there was no difference in strengthandflexibilitypart (p=0,13).

Inthestroke group, theaerobiccomponent of RAPA was also found to increase in parallel with

the increase in FAC (p=0,04). There was a positive correlation between aerobic part of

RAPA and only Activities of Daily Living (p=0,02), Mobility (p=0,08) and Hand Function

(p=0,04) dimensions of SIS-3.

5.Discussion and Conclusion: As a result, PA participation was decreased in patients with

mildstroke. It was determined that the decrease in PA participation was due to physical

disability occured after stroke as well as due to reported difficulties by patient in especially activities of Daily living and mobility. There was no effect of perceived overall recovery on

PA participation.
