Bilecik, known as “The City of Foundation and Independence”, is located in the southeast of the Marmara region. The city, where the Ottoman Principality was founded, which would be an empire in the future, seeks to get a share from the tourism market with its natural beauties and cultural heritage. The aim of this study is to determine how Bilecik is evaluated by local stakeholders as a tourism destination. For this purpose, a semi-structured interview, which is one of the data collection methods in qualitative research, was used to interview with the local tourism stakeholders of Bilecik. 28 local stakeholders were interviewed face to face and the data were analyzed descriptively. As a result of the study, the study concludes that the local tourism stakeholders in Bilecik considered Bilecik as a tourism destination. However, they also think that Bilecik's tourism infrastructure and superstructure should be developed. Furthermore, it is a predominant perspective that a historical tourism destination can be utilized as a destination type. The research findings illustrate that especially, the district of Söğüt is of importance for tourism and Osmaneli district works intensively to develop tourism.
