Abstract

Growing competition in many industries has resulted in a greater emphasis on developing and using simulation method to model and analyze the complex and dynamic systems. A huge requirement for the use of simulation caused to a growth in the number of simulation languages and packages especially for the Agent Based Simulation (ABS) in the market. There are many properties that make each simulation package different.  Some packages are more expensive than others; however, they offer more common features and can be used in a wide range of application areas.  Some are more particular for only one field and have strong aspect of modelling,  whereas  others provide only essential features. This makes selecting and purchasing a simulation package too hard.Due to the significance of evaluation and selection of appropriate simulation software, both academics and simulation users are interested in researches in this area. Although therehas been a current interest in using ABS; however, the survey of available ABS packages is limited. Besides there are not sufficient papers that provide methods and strategy in order to evaluate the simulation packages for ABS.  In our study, the evaluation and comparison of ABS packages with a survey will be provided.
