The cities have begun to seek new strategies to attract new investments to city and to regenerate the urban areas where the industry has left by the reason of deindustrialisation. Areas with high market potential and high profile, urban centers or coastal areas and docks have been the centre of interest of investors for the new developments of city. In time, mixed-use projects that appeal to high income are built in these areas. And when these projects started to be successful, other countries that didn’t want to fall behind on the global competition began to copy these projects and large-scaled urban projects have begun to be built in cities. Istanbul, the megacity of Turkey has become one of these cities and has almost become a construction area via different projects start to rise at different points of the city. Although these projects in Istanbul are mostly built for the high income groups, the development in the city has developed in a different feature from the other world cities. These projects in Istanbul are being built not only in prestigious areas but in different parts of the city that have different characteristics and these projects are marketed at high prices by increasing the land value.For this reason, it is important to analyze mega projects with different features in Istanbul with their own characteristics.Therefore, it is considered that this study that will embrace the mega projects of Istanbul with the different features of their own will make a significant contribution to the literature.

The main purpose of this study analyze the properties of the mega projects in Istanbul such as the size of the area, type of project, project budget, construction periods and their spatial reflections. The development process of mega projects in Istanbul will also be revealed according to years by the mapping of analyzes made within the scope of the study. It will be investigated whether there are specific concentration zones in the spatial arrangements of these projects and as a result of all these analyzes the strategies that should be adopted in the planning process of Istanbul to provide a healty urban development will be revealed.
