Abstract

Abstract: This study aims to examine how the speed emerged by globalism affects cities by considering the close relationship between neoliberalism and urban policies. In that sense, the study also investigates the offers presented by Slow City Movement - which was created against above mentioned ideology – to deal with uniformity and fast grow of cities. In the first step of study, the features and prenciples of Citta Slow and Slow City Movements have been described based on literature survey. Afterwards the effects of this movement on cities have been identified on examples. The findings show that the urbanization and the development projects created by the ideology of neoliberalism sale the city by marketing techniques according to demand and the philosophy of Citta Slow Movement has also been operated to sale cities ironically.

NEOLİBERALİZM KARŞISINDA HIZLI DÜNYANIN YAVAŞ KENTLERİ

Öz: Bu çalışma, neoliberalizm ile kent politikaları arasındaki yoğun ilişkiden yola çıkarak, küreselleşme ile ortaya çıkan hızın kentleri nasıl etkilediğini inceleme amacındadır. Bu bağlamda, bu ideolojiye karşı oluşturulan Citta Slow ( Slow City) hareketinin, kentlerdeki birörnekleşme ve hıza karşı ne tür öneriler geliştirdiğini incelemektedir. Çalışma ile öncelikli olarak Citta Slow ve Slow City hareketleri ile ilgili literatür taranarak özellikleri ve prensipleri belirlenmiş, daha sonra örnek kentler üzerinden bu hareketin kent üzerindeki etkileri belirlenmiştir. Çalışma bulguları, günümüzde neoliberalizm ideolojisi ile yaratılan kentleşme ve gelişim projelerinin kenti talebe göre pazarlayarak sattığını, Citta Slow felsefesinin de ironik olarak kentleri satmaya yönelik işletildiğini ortaya koymaktadır.
