Abstract

In this study, a model is developed in order to use as a reference during offer period at DayAhead Market and Ancillary Services Market of Turkish Power Markets for a facility which is chosen regardless of its location. The facility is considered as 1) one of the combined cycle power plant, which are the merchant power plants for the formation of “Market Clearing Price” which is the reference price for Turkish Power Markets and 2) operating with average costs and technical requirements. When developing the model, 1) price forecast which can be calculated by any of the company’s own know-how or can be outsourced and 2) already known costs and technical requirements and average contractual market data are taken into consideration as inputs. It is desired to create a generation plan which starts with a long term based and detailed after the run for shorter terms as output. In this model, an optimum generation plan is found based on price forecasts and generation level and frequency requirements are shown. This data is used in model and proposals are prepared considering risk parameters to submit for both Ancillary Services Market and Day-Ahead Market. Within the scope of this study, by using the branch and bound algorithm and the ant colony algorithm which is a metaheuristic algorithm, a comparison will be made to find the optimum proposals and prepare cost analyzes.
