In the era of communication and of digital humanities, we find important absences when it comes to the disciplines that show themselves as a part of the digital media. One of the most remarkable absences in this field is the one of philosophy which, despite its being one of the humanistic fields of knowledge par excellence, it hardly ever appears as an integrative part of this whole. In order to show these issues, we will make a brief theoretical analysis concerning the many possible contributions that can be made from philosophy as a discipline to digital humanities. Secondly, by means of a sample, we will make an example concerning the presence of philosophy on digital media, taking as a case study the research on medieval philosophy within the scope of the Hispanic American area. Finally, some of the possible causes regarding this issue will be set out, paying special attention to the deficiencies we have to solve when a common multidisciplinary workspace is sought in humanities.
