Isa Yilmaz has BSc in Economics and Management from Istanbul Bilgi University Honors Program (Turkey) and another BSc in the same subject from the University of London International Program (UK); continued for MSc in Islamic Finance, University of Durham (UK): and completed his PhD in Islamic Finance program at the University of Durham.
His PhD thesis addresses newly raised issues in Islamic economics area including Islamic economic development, financialisation trends within Islamic finance sector, and maqasid al-Shariah and its application in Islamic economics as a methodology.
In a wider sense, his research interests are on alternative economic and financial systems that envisage authentic models for developmental and welfare consequences for emerging economies. To address this, his interest area expands through the literature on moral economy, political economy, alternative banking and financial models and public choice.
